This is exactly the reason why I have refrained from posting although I'm active on comments. I keep hearing the chant of "Verify yourself" showing up. As a fellow abuse survivor I have no intention of ever exposing my real identity. If verification becomes mandatory on Steemit, it would discourage a lot of people from contributing. Not all of us like to live in the public eye.
