Everyone wants to make an impact and live a life they can be proud of.
But anyone who has known success or been close to it, once or twice, knows that life comes with some harsh realities.
Success requires a lot of hard work and commitment, but what happens when luck and success evade us?
Perhaps we need to take a look at the hard truths that show us if we are on the way to our own success.
Perhaps we need to spend some time rethinking the renewal and restructuring of our approach that will give us the best opportunity to move forward successfully.
Here are 10 hard truths that may not be fun to listen to or think about, but they can help you make your life better right away.
1. You can't control a lot of things, but you can control how you respond.
In life and business, many things are out of your control. But there is one thing you can always control: you can control yourself, your reactions and your ideas.
2. Life is not always cheerful but there is value in both good and bad.
There's too much pressure on all of us to be happy. But life is sometimes difficult and painful. When you let go of the idea that only happiness has value, you can accept life with all its glorious complexity.
3. Nothing lasts forever and that's good.
Whatever the situation or emotion, there is a great deal of freedom when you learn to let it go, to make the experience part of the person you are becoming and move on.
4. We can do our best and still fail and it's not our fault.
As leaders we have a tendency to be very hard on ourselves. But when you let go of perfectionism, you can accept that you did your best, whatever the outcome. Expect the best and you'll get great things, and if that doesn't happen, let it go.
5. You don't like everybody and that's fine.
It has been proven time and again that you can't please everyone. But if you concentrate on being right with yourself, what others think about you won't matter.
6. The past is gone but you can build a great future with what it has left you.
We all have an inclination to spend time analyzing the past. That's valuable to some extent, but beyond that it's a recipe for paralysis. Hold on to what you have learned, let go of any pain, and move forward to the present, and from there to the future.
7. The beliefs of others are none of your business, it is to accept them.
Each of us is unique in our way of being, and that's what makes this world so fantastic. What's good for me may be bad for you, but all we can do is put aside judgment and accept each other as we are.
8. Some people and situations are harmful and need to be strong to leave them behind
Occasionally, you will encounter a person or situation that is only wasting your time, sucking precious resources and energy out of your life. Maybe it's not your place to judge, but that doesn't mean you let that toxicity stop you. Just leave it behind.
9. Cheating and games don't fuel racing, trust is the key.
Business is based on relationships, and as with societies, marriages and friendships, trust and authenticity are key components.
10. There are a lot of things he can't choose from, but you have a choice in everything you do.
You can make excuses, blame others, embrace toxicity and the wrong path, or you can follow a bright path. It's your call.
When you let go of the bad ideas in your life, it's not a weakness, it's about realizing that you're important enough to make a good choice and strong enough to let go of the things that don't let you move forward.
