Previously, KRI Nanggala-402 was declared missing contact on Wednesday (21/4/2021) at 03.00 WITA in the waters north of Bali. After several days of searching, the ship was declared sub-sunk or sunk.

The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KSAL) Admiral TNI Yudo Margono pointed out some of the debris that had been found. Among them are torpedo straighteners, cooling pipes with South Korean writing, the mats used by the crew for prayers, diesel spills to lubrication to go up and down the submarine periscope.

In addition, a sponge was also found to retain heat in the hull of the ship, so that condensation does not occur.

"These objects are believed by former crew members of the Nanggala ship, belonging to the Nanggala-402 submarine," said Yudo when giving a press statement from Ngurah Rai Ops Base, Bali, Saturday (24/4/2021).

That way, said Yudo, the phase of the events experienced by the Nanggala 402 Ship from originally sub-missed to sub-sunk. "In this phase, we will prepare medical aid to evacuate if a survivor is still found," he said.
