Since independence from Pakistan in 1971, Bangladesh has faced several military coups many times. And
many of them win defeat. Some wanted or not asked for anybody. Some subordinate officers of the Bangladesh Army conducted a coup in 15th August, 1975. And in the coup, life is to build a country called Bangladesh
The chief artisan, then the state's hero, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and his whole family, survived only because of his position in Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, the two daughters of Bangabandhu and some leaders of Awami League and Awami League leaders. Those who were involved in the coup or those who led the coup were Major Shariful Haq (Dalim) Bir Uttam, Major Syed Faruq Rahman and Major Rashid. But the top army officer was not involved with that coup. The reformed government of Major Farooq, Major Rashid and Khandker Mushtaq Ahmed was ousted from November 3, 1975 by another coup. The coup led to General Khaled Mosharraf Bir Uttam.
On November 3, Khaled Mosharraf wanted to make a bloody coup, so Major General Ziaur Rahman was kept under house arrest at his own residence. Col. Abu Taher was staying in Chittagong at that time. Col. Abu Taher was a specially well-wisher of Ziaur Rahman. He was a believer in socialism. The soldier-officer discrimination was not his choice. For this policy, Taher was very popular among the army's general soldiers. Col. Taher believed that Zia was also a model of his ideology. After the November 3 uprising, Taher came to know that Ziaur Rahman was captured. He immediately went to Dhaka from Chittagong in order to rebel the lords of East Bengal Regiment of his loyalist, and he was accompanied by hundreds of Jatiya Sangsad members. Col Taher's counter-coup succeeded on 7 November. Col. Taher, Ziaur Rahman was released from Dhaka cantonment. In the counter coup, the soldiers of the East Bengal regiment killed General Khaled Mosharraf.
General Ziaur Rahman had faced 21 coups during his five year rule. Although he survived 21 coups, he died in the 22nd coup. Most of them were composed of 1971's freedom fighters, who could not withstand the ties with Zia's Islamic thought group. He firmly suppressed those movements.
On June 30, 1981, a coup was held between the assassination of President Ziaur Rahman in Chittagong, in the southern port city of Chittagong. President Zia's chief commander Ershad's conspiracy was hatched by a group of army officers who took responsibility for the coup, on General Manzur. He was a brave freedom fighter. Lawrence Lifesulge's claim that Manzur was killed in a cantonment prison by sending Brigadier Mahmudul Hasan to Dhaka Cantonment to remove evidence.
On 25 March 1982, the then elected President Abdus Sattar was ousted by General Hussain Muhammad Ershad through a bloodless coup and declared himself the Chief Martial Law Administrator. In 1996, the then Chief of Army Staff General A.A. come. M. Nasim attempted a coup. But it failed because of the protective role of General Imamuzzaman Bir Bikram. At that time Abdur Rahman Biswas was the President of Bangladesh.
