The federal government of India has expanded the BSF's border monitoring area. Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, objected. He also rescinded the decision in a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has authority 15 kilometers from the border. They are in charge of security in this establishment. Within 15 kilometers of the border, BSF soldiers can patrol, search, confiscate suspicious commodities, and capture smugglers. However, on October 11, the Indian central government issued an order expanding the BSF patrol radius from 15 km to 50 km. Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, was unable to accept the ruling.
