The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad has partnered with TalentSprint to launch a new Advanced Certificate Program on Blockchain Technologies and Solutions. It will make it one of the premier learning institutes in the country to offer a fully certified course on Blockchain technology.
This move from this institute follows its earlier program on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. This was an executive program that saw over 800 participants attending it in the first 6 months of its launch.
This move doesn't come as a surprise as Tech Mahindra and many other IT companies today are working blockchain solutions. It's the perfect time for top institutes focused on IT education to start providing blockchain courses and certifications.
India after all is the hub for IT in Asia and it will lead by example with greater number of blockchain specialists in the days to come. It would be ideal if the government supported the endeavours from the private sector to improve the situation in the country.
Deccan Chronicle reports that Gartner has identified Blockchain as one of the top disruptive technologies of 2018. World Economic Forum survey suggests that 10 per cent of global GDP will be stored on Blockchain by 2027. According to an industry study, there is a 700% increase in demand for Blockchain professionals globally. NASSCOM estimates that Blockchain has the potential to create the value of up to USD 5 Billion in India in the next 5 years. Even central policy-making organizations such as NITI Aayog have identified Blockchain as a key enabler of national infrastructure.
The course of by IIIT Hyderabad is an advanced certificate program which allow its participants a deeper understanding of the blockchain technology while teaching them to leverage it to build complex solutions for real-world applications.
It will enable them to build solutions for distributed multi-entity applications, integrated financial systems, supply chain and other industry applications. The three-month program will be delivered by faculty from the Blockchain Research CoE and practitioners from TalentSprint, with extensive hands-on assignments and a capstone project.
Ripple in part is responsible for enabling this because IIIT Hyderabad is one of the 17 global members of Ripple’s UBRI. The grant received by IIIT Hyderabad from UBRI has allowed it to expand it's Blockchain Center of Excellence, which is focused on academic research, technical development, innovation and executive education.
Overall this is fantastic news in my opinion as it create engineers with focus on blockchain development. This will surely aid the next cycle of development in the IT sector and help create new jobs in the market. Blockchain development after all is the new buzzword in the IT sector.
Let's hope that the Indian government comes forth the legislation enabling growth of cryptocurrency as much as blockchain technology in India.
