Doklam plateau is a really little area on which the last dispute erupted less than 1 month ago. This area lies between China, Bhutan and the NE Indian state of Sikkim. The area is claimed both by China and Bhutan, which is an ally of India.
The area is strategic for India for connection of Indian northeast state to the rest of India. China decided to build a new road in the disputed area, which could harm the Indians interest in the territory known as "Chicken´Neck".
In one month from the start of this dispute, China and India has started to send soldiers in the area and there were already some confrontation between the two Armies and the situation is deteriorating rapidly.
China and India has already fought a war in 1962, resulting in an Indian defeat at the time, but in the meantime India has improved dramatically its military power, not depending anymore from former Soviet arsenal.
Not a lot about all this is written in western news, but ......consequences will be for all, if this will not stop ASAP in a diplomatic way, which for the moment is refused by both leaders.
Better to sit once again around a table to decide about to build a new road, instead of sending trucks and in last hours also tanks in the region, because this is not the way to get a win to win situation.
What might be the consequences?
if the military confrontation escalate, the WW3, involving at least 3 bln of people (India and China, probably also Pakistan), which is practically half of the world population. Otherwise, which I hope, only not getting some Iphone and other consumer tools produced or in China or in India on time in Western markets, but this is acceptable.
Remember, India and China are nowadays military powers !!!
in my opinion China is just trying to take control over the tiny Kingdom of Buthan and India is trying to prevent it
could be, but for the moment the confrontation is quite direct between India and China
did not know at all, very interesting and dangerous too
Wow. Its so crazy how much we don't hear from our media.
