We irrespective of caste, creed, religion and other kind of man-made sectarianism happened to have gathered and taught by our seniors in the society that "Cleanliness is next to godliness" i.e. we should live and endure to live with cleanliness all around, be it our homes or the surroundings. However,we cannot avoid the uncleanliness and even filthy surroundings, presumably because of inefficient 'clean up' projects that are said to be controlled by the agents of municipalities/corporations whose authorities incidentally happen to be in power to maintain our wellness through vote-bank politics that have in fact, turned out out to have become a farcical as well as false assurances.
This cannot be denied that the of sufferings from Dengue currently stand in alarming condition within the state though as per declared government projections, there have been records of more sufferers as well as affected ones including death tolls in some other states in comparison to the prevailing situations in the state of WB.Its practically a kind of complacent kind of expressions by the authorities that are there from time to time, years after years.
In fact, usage of bleaching powder, anti-dengue spray and cleanness of different neighborhoods are practically observed twice/thrice a year since such practices are found to be carried out by contractors of municipal authorities, particularly prior to Durga Puja, Kalipuja and of course, before elections of Assembly, Panchayat, and Municipalities and corporations etc.
Besides the above, roads and lanes of almost all areas continue to remain dirty, clumsy and filthy odor-offering ones. Added to these menaces are the vacant lands which somehow be treated as dumping grounds by local people although municipality-engaged wheel barrows continue to visit the gate of before every house of the areas, at least thrice a week.
In view of the growing menace, it is expected that authorities should arrange placement of waste boxes and dustbins in larger number at all the neighborhoods so that people can use it and keep their area clean and healthy.
We are generally afoot to keep our own homes as clean as possible for the purpose of good look,if not aristocratic but we,as a matter of practical habit, should throw out/dump all unwanted garbage outside our homes i.e. on roads/lanes and vacant land areas nearby, preferably to the nearest places around our homes. What an unethical practice we have been breeding!
Swatch Bharat and Swatch Bengal are good proposals,be it of the central or state governments and these are really inevitable ones too but it is doubtful if we generally practice it in reality. Should we not consider keeping the society around clean and practice cleanliness for living a gentle and hygienic lifestyles!
