Better data on banks' earnings have given rise to banking stocks. This also strengthened the market and the stock market closed at a new record high. Banking stocks have gained momentum due to better results in the third quarter of HDFC Bank and Kotak Bank.
The Sensex climbed 251 points to 35,512 points and the Nifty climbed 78 points to close at 10,895 levels on Friday. This is the first time the Nifty has touched this figure.
