The sand mafia is one of India's great curses. Rampant sand mining in many of India's rivers has reduced their water-holding capacity and been indirectly responsible for floods and droughts. People who stand up to the sand mafia are harassed or killed.
This documentary examines this malaise that threatens to turn India into a severely water-deficit nation. It takes a good, hard look at a reality that holds no promise of better days.
