One could ask: "Why not just buy the produce directly in Hive token?"
Answer : Simply for convenience. Users don't need to calculate fluctuating hive value and get mixed up. NPTT tokens are here to facilitate quick exchanges of produce between Hive users. Imagine transferring tokens at the doorstep during a quick product delivery.
To get those tokens on the market you first need to register your farming activity under a trusted NPTT Witness Hive Shop* (See NPTT#0002: https://peakd.com/nptt0002/@newparadigmtt/hive-project-nptt-0002). You then sell your produce by receiving said tokens by user-to-user transfers.
Alternatively, you can buy the NPTT tokens on the market at a slightly higher price and manage your own operation as you wish.
In the case where you farm with NPTT Witness Hive Shops, your witness will ask you to calculate the Hive token average month price for your product. How much it cost you to take care of your chickens? The NPTT Witnesses will sell those tokens at said price for you and sell your production one month or so in advance on the market. When your customer wants something, he simply transfers you quickly from his wallet the amount of tokens represented in the deal between you and him. Every tokens you received from your customers will be bought back by your NPTT Witness (You receiving HBD), at previous month price set with your witness (those transactions (transfers) do not occur on the market as orders but between user-to-user, naming NPTT Witnesses and Hive Shops). Note that this selling back price is not guaranteed if you are not registered with a NPTT Witness.
