On day 7 we wanted to do a bit of exploring and a lot of relaxing. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves it's a holiday. Otherwise we keep going 100 miles an hour. A few days earlier we had a driver that showed us around, but this time we thought it would be nice to drive ourselves around. We decided where we wanted to go and hopped on our shiny new powerful scooter. We already saw a large part of the area yesterday when we drove out to Amed but we saved one epic destination for today.
First some shots we took along the way:
Then we stopped at Ujung Water Palace. Which was B-E-A-utiful!
Ujung Water Palace was built by the King of Karangasem and consists of three large pools. In the middle of one of the pools there is the main building named Gili Bale. It is connected to the edge of the pool by a bridge.
The complex is set against a backdrop of Mount Agung and the eastern shoreline. The site suffered near devastation by showers of hot ash following the eruption of Mount Agung in 1963, and also weathered an earthquake in 1979. Restoration efforts made way to its current splendour.
We walked around the complex and enjoyed the view. Then it was time to return to the hotel for some lunch and to hang out by the pool. The pool was actually used to practice diving, so the largest part was pretty deep. Nice for a change. Sadly not very suitable for our 'dirty dancing move' we always like to practice in the pool :)
For dinner we broke our own vacation-dinner-rule. We had dinner at the same place as yesterday! A place with Western food called Vincent's. Normally we wanna get as much diversity as possible, but this time we just couldn't resist. Yesterday I had the best chocolate dessert, but they had more! It was hard to choose. So, tonight I picked another one! :D
Nomnomnom
If you ever make it out to Candidasa on Bali you should definitely have dessert here :)
