Pangolins (also referred to as scaly-ant eater) are mammals of the order of Pholidota. One surviving family, Manidae, has three genera, Sweet consisting of four species living in Asia, Phataginus comprising two living species in Africa, and Smutsia of two species also living in Africa. [2] These species range in size from 30 100 cm (12-39 in). A number of extinct anteaters are also known. The pangolin name is derived from the Malay word "roller". Pangolins are found naturally in the tropics throughout Africa and Asia
