Bali is the most famous and best-known of the countless Indonesian islands in the Indian Ocean. There is a tropical warm climate. Denpasar is the capital of the island. Every year millions of tourists from all over the world come to experience the spirit of the "Island of the Gods". It does not matter what kind of travel you bring with you - Bali offers a suitable option for every need.
Sun worshipers can relax on the paradisiacal beaches and in the hanging mats on the Bukit peninsula (southern part of Bali). Cultural lovers can visit countless mystic temples and palaces and lose themselves during traditional dances, ceremonies and gamelan concerts in Bali's magical culture. Party lovers experience wild nights in Kuta with Ricewine and Bintang (beer) and relax the next morning at the endlessly long beach with guitar sounds and carnation cigarettes from the strains of the last night.
For activists the volcanoes Batur and Agung are ready for ascent. Adventurers and nature lovers will get their money's worth on a tour of Bali's north. Countless reefs and shipwrecks wait to be discovered by divers in the east and north. Surfers will find their paradise on earth in immaculate waves in the west and south of the island.
Bali has a lot of waterfalls to discover. One of my favorite one is the Sekumpul Waterfall in the north, which I want to present you. From the parking lot it is first a few hundred meters over a narrow but well-developed way. Lined with rice fields, but also coffee, cocoa, carnations, many other plants and a small stream where kids were playing, it leads to a small warung, a kiosk. The owner offers here the usual refreshments, as well as products from his own organic farming, mainly vanilla and cocoa.
Then came the stairs with about 320 steps and only partly solid railings. For this, the view is breathtaking and the waterfall is quickly in sight, initially of course from above.
The staircase ends at a river. Bridge? No, not a bridge, but not too cold water, which is only knee-deep. So shoes off and through, but please beware, the stones are quite slippery.
On the other side, a trample path leads to the left, after a short stretch, the effort of the descent is worth it!
The path ends just below the waterfall and the viewer stops once with his mouth open. The place is fantastic, under the fall have formed some small pools in which it is excellent bathing. This is not easy, because the lens is full of water drops. On that day I have been there, there was an amazing 360 degree rainbow. It was such an amazing feeling to stay there in front of this waterfall and in middle of the rainbow.
