" Guidance For Damage Repair On Columns Or Beams "
A). The reins have melted
According to Muljady Wongsonegoro, Dipl, Ing (Head of Engineering of PT Bersama Bangun Persada-distributor and applicator of StoCrete structural repair material), when the reinforcement condition of the column has been melted and not too severe so the building is not tilted, damaged reinforcement can be cut and replaced with new reinforcement . Check if the reinforcement in the column is secure enough to bear the burden or not. When it is strong enough, the improvement steps are as follows.
- Hold the column load to be fixed with wood or iron.
- Unload the concrete that is still attached around the rebounded reinforcement.
- Crushed lesions are then replaced with new reinforcement. Notice the new reinforcement connection with the old reinforcement. It is recommended that the old reinforcement be overlapped with the same length. If the diameter of reinforcement is 12 mm, the length of the overlaping of the reinforcement is about 480 mm. After that, tie the connection with wire or weld.
- Install the formwork around the repaired columns. After that, insert concrete material with the quality of concrete in accordance with the quality of the old concrete quality or it could be with special materials for the repair of concrete.
B). The reins have not melted
Damage with reinforced reinforcement conditions that often occur is cracked, partially destroyed concrete, and the concrete blanket released.
Ir Sondra Gosali (Sales and Marketing Manager of PT Sika Indonesia) explained that there are three improvement methods, namely patching (plaster), grouting (adding with mixture of concrete and additive), and injection (injection with chemicals). Here is the repair process based on the type of damage.
√1.Reprint
If the surface of a column or beam is cracked, the first step is to check whether the crack is on a concrete blanket or on a concrete "meat".
Cracks in concrete blankets can be overcome by patching up patches using polymer-based material repair materials. Or it could also use a mixture of cement and water. If it turns out the crack is on the "meat" of concrete, then the method of repair can use the method of grouting or injection.
The process of grouting method is to dismantle cracks to the bottom of the crack or until the meat looks concrete. Make sure the concrete around the cracks does not fall out. After that, pour the cement-based structural repair material into the crack gap.
We recommend using a bounding agent (material such as glue) to facilitate the process of gluing between old concrete and structural repair materials. Bounding agent can also be replaced with water. Flush water on the old concrete surface in the crack gap.
While the process of injection method begins by closing the surface of cracks using material made from epoxy. After that, make a hole along the crack with the distance between the hole about 25 cm and cover the hole with a rubber hose.
Insert the epoxy-based material repair material into the rubber hose. If the material is out on one of the rubber hoses, then immediately close the hose hole. Reinsert epoxy material into another hole. Repeat the process until all the rubber hoses are closed. If all rubber hoses are closed, this means that all cracks in the cracks are filled with epoxy material.
√2. Concrete is partially destroyed
To improve it, the method used is grouting method. The repair process for column damage is as follows:
- Hold the column load by giving wood or iron around the column.
- Clean the concrete that is still attached around the concrete shards. Tap around the shards to make sure there's no more concrete to peel off.
- Make the formwork around the columns.
- Cor back part of the chipped column with a mixture of concrete and additives. If you do not want to bother, currently on the market already available ready-made materials to improve the structure. This cement-based material is known as cement grout.
√3. The concrete blanket is peeling off
Such damage is classified as cosmetic damage. That is, only his appearance is broken. To fix this, the correct method is by patching method. The trick is as follows:
- Clean or remove the concrete blanket that is still attached around the peeled concrete blanket.
- Coat a peeled concrete surface with a bounding agent.
- Give a special plastering mortar for structural repair on the peeled surface of the concrete. Usually this plastering material consists of two components.
