40 Years Of Silence: An Indonesia Tragedy (And Possibilities For A World Without War)... Part TWO

in #indonesia7 years ago (edited)

Recap: this story began in Part ONE with the expose of up to three million innocent people slaughtered in Indonesia in 1965 and a propaganda campaign upon which it and the preceeding country's history had been based.

If you've not yet read Part ONE, I'd recommend doing so now to get the complete story.

And to proceed...

Reality check: this planet lost an approximate 123 million people in wars during the 20th century.

And it really seems like we may not have been learning our lessons.

Now given that mankind has evolved its technological capacities with even bigger, badder nukes, chemical & biological weaponry, and AI coming into the scene... how many more lives might it be fair to estimate could be lost to war this century, should we not get our shit together fucking ASAP, learn the fucking lessons, and alter our fucking course to put an end to these types of human catastrophe for once and for all...?

Pardon my French, but we're not fucking around here.

It's easy to not take these matters seriously, from the comfort of our western homes. Few of us had family members seized and executed. Few here have watched their friends beaten and murdered in front of their faces because of an ideology that took root in cultural programs driving national political agendas. We've read about it and seen it on TV - remaining far removed from the ugliest of realities that have swept our planet over the last century.

And being so far removed, it's all too easy to get lost in a pollyanna view of the world, comforted with a hopeful sense that nothing like that could ever happen to us.

Maybe many of us never will experience anything like that. But, we gotta keep ourselves in check from getting too far distanced from the reality of our global situation to embrace the fact that the probability is high that these types of atrocities shall continue because collectively, we've not learned and implemented the lessons fast enough.

What is our responsibility?

Who knows. That's a tough question.

There ain't no one here that's gonna walk into the middle of a war zone, raise their hand, and with a heart full of nothing but positive vibes, gonna introduce the dawn of world peace. Just sayin'.

There might not be any one, small action that any of us could take that'd save millions of lives.

Or what if there is.

We think we're so small. And physically, compared to global armies with stockpiles of nuclear warheads and warehouses upon warehouses full of guns and ammunition, we might be.

But it's not anthing that can be measured in physical size that'll make any difference.

It's people.

It's ideas. It's constructively-channelled passion and intelligence.

It's leadership. The fruition of wisdom, effectively expressed to spread awareness, instill upgraded cultural codes, and influence people in making the shifts in their lives that'll transform the output of the entities - enterprises and organizations - of which they are a part.

Maybe it's not yours or mine positions in life to intervene in any way and even attempt exerting some sort of influence to alter this course of self-destruction mankind seems to have been on.

But what if it is.

Maybe we don't recognize ourselves to be in any position of "power," which we'd think had a large-enough influence to make a difference at such a higher global level.

But what if we've underestimated the power we do have, which we may not even be aware of currently possessing?

Maybe each story you or I publish here on Steemit is an opportunity, serving as a few lines of code we can contribute to rewriting the collective future.

Maybe a few ideas and perspectives shared here could ripple out, having an effect on a reader that changed the course of their lives, and yet further out to reap magnificent harvests we'll never know - simply as a result of planting a few seeds here and there.

Who the fuck knows.

But what we do know and can agree upon:

Things have been heating up on this planet. And if history is any indicator of where we're heading, it's pretty close to fucking time to step up in some way or another to contribute in serving our fellow humans to do whatever we each can in co-writing a new, happier, peaceful outcome.

Maybe this domain of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology is one in which we can make a difference.

Maybe decentralization of currency and government could make a difference.

Maybe transparent, censor-free protocols paired with stuff like Wikileaks and other ecosystem mechanisms rewarding contribution of value could bring to surface huge amounts of information on what other types of political corruptions and propaganda wars have been going on - and other legal aspects introduced to serve in somehow establishing and enforcing fair, proper justice in our societies to an unprecedented degree.

Maybe we're entering into an era where fairly-compensated community contributions could elict fresh leadership voices introducing constructive ideas and solutions into the mainstream, influencing cultural maturation in political, institutional, and corporate organizations just as much as the countless underdogs who've been working towards a peaceful, prosperous planet for all.

Granted, these matters are a big game.

Let's recount... an approximate 123 million people dead in wars during the 20th century.

Big game.

And if we don't step up and do something to exert some positive influence...? What might the toll be this century.

I really don't mean to play the fear card, or negate any optimism that we potentially could be at a major turning point. This is strict objective assessment. No bullshit.

There's a few hundred million people in Indonesia who are still living a lie.

An entire nation, still primarily living with a belief system that was instilled with a lie used to validate the manipulation of an entire population to accept and support a mass slaughter of millions of innocent people.

Read that sentence again.

Big game.

Maybe we don't have the solution to end world war.

But what if the solution were awaiting for one country's restoration of peace in one child, awaiting activation from the introduction of a single Truth which stands true in contrast to the entire false belief she was forcefully instilled with through the past corruption of her culture's operating system?

Maybe not.

But how much more good than bad might come, were a nation of people introduced the Truth of lies that have formed the foundation of their national & cultural history?

Maybe it isn't our role in life to advocate the awareness of every injustice. But maybe a few pieces of potent information here and there to help unveil cultural lies might have far more positive consequences than we'd think (even if it entails being the party-pooper at the new age "positive vibes only" parade, given the prerequisite to face the uglier sides of humanity).

Maybe the world will tick on as it will regardless of our actions. Or, maybe the cost of sitting back and doing & saying nothing while civilization burns down on the other side of the world is far greater than we'd want to know.

I dunno.

But, I'd encourage a bit of reflection on it.

Cuz even if we don't personally care too much about what all happens in the world, there ultimately must come the question: is this the type of world we'd like to leave behind to our children and grandchildren's grandchildren?

May each who've invested the time in reading this story takeaway something to pay forward, the return carrying on to shift and activate something in your and our shared realities.

May we together learn and implement the lessons our ancestors failed to.

May we honor the deceased whose lives were lost to leave us such heavy lessons.

And may we learn from them, altering the course of our collective fate from yet again repeating the past.

Maktub.

Sort:

True you are. 120 million died in wars.
Be ready for N.korean Nuke.

A good finish. Part one set the tone, part two brings about a message.

I believe that if each of us spend a little time, a few minutes, everyday reflecting upon our actions and our beliefs, we will have come a long way in building a better future and world for prosterity.

It crazy to think that all this killing is for nobody but the elitists. I choose to spread love and positivity, some might disagree , however; we all have the choice . Awesome share .
