Gerhana bulan total pada tanggal 31 bulan januari tahun 2018 kejadian yang sangat langka, mengapa demikian gerhana bulan total hanya terjadi pada 150 tahun silam, yaitu pada tanggal 31 maret 1966. Di Indonesia pernah terjadi gerhana bulan total sekitar 36 tahun silam atau pada tahun 1982.
