SCADA is an acronym that has an extension of supervision, control, and retrieval of data (Data Acquisition). So SCADA is an integrated data processing system that serves to supervise, control and obtain more accurate data in real time. In addition to the network in PT. PLN (Persero), actually SCADA applications have been used for other purposes such as industrial operations, setting the pace of gas, drinking water distribution, traffic control of train and aircraft movement monitoring in the airport, and includes monitoring of operational power plants as well as setting the electricity network over a large area in Electrical whether private or State.
SCADA monitors the existing measures in substations, electric network or power plant accurately and display the measurement results on the control center. SCADA also monitors the status / indication of electrical equipment in substations, electric network or power plant which later display it on the control center. And other functions of SCADA is executing directly the electrical power system equipment that located widely in substations, electric network or power plant from the order of control center.

PT. PLN (Persero) is one of the major companies in Indonesia engaged in the field of electricity. The company needs the reliable, efficient, safe support of telecommunication system, and able to cover the entire area of operation. SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is a major system to support the control system of power distribution. The advantages of SCADA systems such to facilitate dispatchers to monitor the entire distribution network without having to look directly into the field. Control and supervision of the entire system in the region can be done in an integrated manner in somewhere. The SCADA system is particularly useful during maintenance and normalization when an interruption occurs. A modern SCADA system consists of several components, such a number of RTU (Remote Terminal Unit), a unit of MTU (Master Terminal Unit), media data telecommunication networks, devices and software in the field or HMI (Human Machine Interface). The purpose of the SCADA system is to collect data from the plant which is located at a distance from MTU, sending data to the RTU, displaying data on the monitor or master computer in the control room, saving data in the hard drive of the master computer and the control and monitoring the plant from the control room via the HMI.
