I agree, the comical aspect can be powerful, indeed.
In terms of actual dialogue between the two parties in this debate; there is none. Highlighting this to them would be a great start, but since people are inclined to stick to their bubbles of belief, they'll probably not receive the message.
The culture itself is also starting to change, social justice is on the rise (perhaps due to Hollywood influences, the rise of individualism and people thinking that they are the main lead in some superhero movie), but if it's not addressed in a proper manner, society will degrade to a complete state of self-censorship where comedy, and ultimately free speech disappears.
It's definitely moving towards a dangerous direction.
