Yep... well I include it ALL because it can be an eye opener when big things are going on to see what they ignore, and what they choose to emphasize.
For some of them their building could be on fire and they'll be more concerned with saying the same tired old things about Trump.
So it can be really quite revealing to compare and contrast. Also occasionally something important slips through the cracks at even the most drivel like sources.
I listen to everyone. Then use my own mind. I certainly don't enjoy a lot of it though, but I still listen so I know what is going on rather than risk creating a safe space/echo chamber for myself.
Not criticizing you. Each of us makes our own paths. I am just explaining what I do. That doesn't mean it is better than what you choose to do. It is just better FOR me. :)
Just saying steemit does it better for me is all my friend, and that bit you said " I certainly don't enjoy a lot of it though" speaks volumes, that is the bit I gave up, I like smiling way too much.
Sometimes thinking about why I don't enjoy it reveals things to me. Some of it is obvious and some of it is not. It is an information war. If you enter the battlegrounds they generally are not a place of smiling. I think I'll potentially miss important things, and opportunities to learn or think something I otherwise might miss if I only stick to the places where I smile. :) It is preferable, but I still must wade into the battle. To do that I try to be informed. Observing the opposition and studying how they think is something I do. Yes, I feel dirty and like I walked through a mental sewer some times, but just as with any dirty job... I can take a shower, or clean myself, even mentally. :)
