Blind Leading the Blind: Fake News, Faux Politicians and How They Keep Nearly 1% Of Us Behind Bars in Murca, Many for Victimless Conduct

in #informationwar7 years ago

So I was browsing my facebook a while ago and I seen one of my friends who is a candidate to chair a minor political party at the national level. This person shared a click bait story with no comment. The story is the first link below, the second is to the presumably to the underlying data, which the link was broken in the fake news article. The third link is more in depth of the fake data that helped a ton of fake news.

So any huh the title to the fake news article was:

"12 Million Americans Believe Lizard People Run Our Country"

The article may have originated from Wire but the url is the Atlantic. Any publication putting out this trash is pretty worthless if not negative effect on worthwhile discussion. The trash article even notes the informal non traditional approach of the questions in the polls in reference such as:

""If God exists, do you approve of its handling of natural disasters?""
The subtitle notes the poll from Public Policy Polling that 90 million Americans think aliens exist, that 66 million believe some landed in Roswell, and the nonsense about lizard people. Apparently the margin of error was 2.8%. The poll was of registered voters and was broken down by voters by major party. Apparently the poll found 5% of Romney voters but only 2% of Obama voters believe in a cabal of reptilian rulers.

So now lets examine the actual poll since the fake news article didn't before perpetuating the wild claims that fill the public sphere with noise silencing the actual issues of our time. In extrapolating their results to the Murcan sheeple as a whole, 1,247 registered voters from March 27-30, 2013, were given the survey. The poll was claimed not to be subsidized by parties or political organizations, but the funding for the worthless institution that generated the fake data was not disclosed at all, nor how the money is used. The polling was done by telephone interviews, so it was biased to people who own phones, accept calls from random numbers, and are willing to talk to random people with unknown motives for many minutes about nonsense. In assuming the data represents any actual opinions, it assumes 1. people answered the questions truthfully, 2. did include an option for not voting for duopolists, but did not include an option for the large percentage of nonvoters- and no mention is made about how that is coded. Ohh and reviewing the longer pdf on the poll the telephone survey was automated, so people willing to waste their time responding to a damned robot not person baiting them into the time vampire. Just totally worthless,

Overall, assuming a sample size of 1/100,000 the population using extremely biased methods and then assuming it is reperesentative is just highly unlikely. And making claims without all the caveats I have done about the data is just fake news. It is no surprise publications that push this kind of trash fake news are doing well and still being promoted for free by minor party political elites--this is the probably quintessential reason they got nearly 1% of us behind bars in Murca, many for vitcimless conduct, and they have successfully shut up Julian Assange for over a month now and all silent it seems of the minor party elites I follow outside of people like @adamkokesh who at least signed onto #reconnectassange. Hopefully we will be free someday, but so long as people don't care about the truth--especially those not part of the military industrial complex controlled duopoly, the minor parties will help continue non discussion of alternative ways to constitute society to the subsidy of the military industrial incarceration intelligence complex that rules the world. So it goes.

thanks glad you enjoyed it!!

There's something call postruth on spanish, but I think its equivalent must be postmodernism. Basically the distortion of the reality. This is basically what's just happening. People is getting dumber and dumber on believing things without any use of logic or rationality. This is worrying.

yea, hopefully the important issues come to the forefront of the attention span soon
