RE: Bewildered by Discord

in #informationwar6 years ago

I use it for like an instant messaging type of thing. I had no idea that Discord was such a good spy, this is interesting to say the least. I believe many go there to hold off the chain conversations that would normally clog up the comment section of a post. Wait...am I doing that?? lol.
There is some great info your provided here that definitely opened up my eyes a bit more. I agree it is a bit puzzling with so much usage on a centralized program by users who are all about decentralized.
Maybe this will help your PC start up faster

Oh yeah - I'm obsessive about my system's startup programs. Have been for years. And what got me with Discord that if you disable it this way, it just reinstalls itself there on the next re-boot.

is Steem Chat gone? There used to be a link on the side but it's gone now.

I didn’t know it did that. My pic used to start slow then I stopped discord and another program from starting and now it fires right. Maybe I had better look again.
I am not sure about steem chat, I think I used it once...maybe. I’m puzzled why there is no private message on any of the other Steemit front ends.

Well, that's what Steemit chat used to be. It was pretty good - simple, not flashy, let us talk and stayed out of the way.

I installed solid state drives in all our PCs once the prices went down. They usually start lightning quick, which is why the slowdown with Discord is so alarming.
