Luisa Ortega, former Venezuelan attorney general who had to leave the country and his position due to political persecution after revealing himself against the government of Nicolás Maduro, requested a "preliminary hearing of merit" for the current Venezuelan leader for own corruption and legitimacy of capitals, on February 19 to the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) which is operating in exile, because the judges that comprise it were being persecuted and imprisoned.

The request was accepted by the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela in exile and was held on Tuesday, April 3 of this year in the Congress of Colombia the preliminary hearing of merit against the Venezuelan leader, which was not attended by Maduro or his defense. In the act, former Attorney General Luisa Ortega delivered test documents and took the floor to explain everything related to the illegal activities committed by Maduro with the Brazilian company Odebrecht which caused "damage to public property and damage to society "and its consequences are seen in the" current humanitarian crisis "that the country is experiencing.

Among all the illicit activities committed by the Venezuelan president, the former prosecutor highlighted at least 13 State projects contracted by Odebrecht for several million dollars where those projects were never completed or started, as well as mentioning that Maduro received large amounts of money to finance their political campaigns by the multinational in exchange for new irregular contracts.

"If they won the elections, they would favor Odebrecht in various projects and increase the value of contracts. Maduro's commitment to take office as president on April 19, 2013 and on May 4 was approving the account number to disburse. the money, "said Ortega.

At the end, the ex-attorney general asked the TSJ in exile to review the evidence and initiate a trial against the current president of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro on corruption charges and money laundering, where the president of the Court, magistrate Miguel Ángel Martín Tortabú said that on April 9 a decision would be made based on the evidence received.

This Monday, April 9, the TSJ in exile decided that there were sufficient elements to proceed with the prosecution of the president, also ordered the preventive detention of Maduro and request Interpol red alert against him.

"This room of the Supreme Court of Justice declares appropriate the request to the precautionary measure of deprivation of liberty against Nicolás Maduro Moros [...] It is ordered to notify Interpol to proceed with the capture against Nicolás Maduro", said the decision of the TSJ in exile.

In addition to notifying INTERPOL and the Armed Forces and the CICPC in Venezuela, the TSJ in exile also notified the decision to the United Nations, the Organization of American States, the European Union and the countries that make up the Lima Group.

Now it is up to the National Assembly of Venezuela, with an opposition majority, to authorize the decision taken by the TSJ to continue with the criminal procedure in accordance with the provisions of the articles 266 numeral 2 of the Constitution and 111 of the Organic Law of the TSJ.
