In my opinion, too many people look to the government to solve everything(your opinion may vary.) I find this absurd, both due to real historical observations and due to my understanding of the original concept of the United States. Government was instated to protect our god-given rights, which were merely enumerated in the Constitution. In the Declaration of Independence we see the phrase "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." A thinking individual should understand that we aren't guaranteed happiness, merely its pursuit. The concepts of liberty and god-given rights were hot on the minds of the founders. The founders and what they created were not 100% perfect, there is no such thing as a perfect government; This we should all understand as it is eminently clear. The Greek city states still had slaves and overbearing empire like leagues. The Romans were prone to civil war and usurpations by ambitious kingmakers in the military and praetorian classes. Republics are prone to falling to money and ambition over time; communist states stomp on private property/rights and are prone to fall under psycopathic tyrants.
There is no such thing as a government controlled utopia and there is likely few such things as human generated utopia whether anarchism or communes. Look at the people around you, do you see perfection? When one takes all of this into consideration, what was bestowed on us was pretty darn good all things considered. When we factor in the subversion from moneyed interests and now from globalism, that is when we see the decline come into play. This very decline is what has weakened the middle class, allowed the underclass to swell, and caused much of the frustrations which has brought a rise in socialism or communism.
The ultimate factor in why I despise the demand for more government to referee or control is summed up in this photo. Concentrating all the power into government hands inevitably leads to tragedy, violence, and loss of liberty.
Think about it, the Bolsheviks had the Cossacks, Imperialists, and others. Stalin had the kulaks and Ukrainians, Hitler had the Communists and the Jews. Franco had the 'Republicans,' and Mao had tens of millions of nonconformists just like Stalin. Spartans had the Helots, Romans had the Christians, and on.... and on... and on.
Personally I'm not in need of 'fixing' and I pray you aren't either. Anytime we demand erosion of extant rights or conglomeration of government power, we are playing with fire.
Dangerous servant, fearful master.
