27 days remaining to the "bogus" elections in Venezuela. To vote, or not to vote?

Voting is a method for a group, such as, a meeting or an electorate to make a decision or express an opinion, usually following discussions, debates or election campaigns.

In 27 days, on May 20th, the Venezuelan Presidential Elections will be held. These elections have been highly criticized by several countries, the OAS, the UN, and the EU. Most of these entities have labeled the elections as illegitimate, as they had been called by the National Constituent Assembly, taking attributions that do not correspond to them, since a new constitution has not been approved.

Several countries have stated that the winner of these elections won't be recognized as President-Elect of Venezuela, no matter the outcome. The MUD (Democratic Unity Board) electoral alliance opposed to Maduro regime decided not to participate in the presidential elections. This fact was already evidenced as such since an agreement was not reached in the dialogue taks between the government and them, in the Dominican Republic at the beginning of February 2018. Such a decision, coupled with the lack of credibility in front of his followers for their many failures in leading the opposition agenda, diluted the ability to lead a significant number of Venezuelans who want a change in their country.

I pointed out in this post the profile of the candidates that are challenging Nicolas Maduro. Everyone had a link to Hugo Chavez or the Maduro regime.

A rising number of Venezuelans are calling not to vote on these elections, as it's nonsense to participate in this event when there's this amount of criticism of the procedures that led to this event. A non recognised President would worsen the crisis in Venezuela, as no government oficial than the President is qualified to ask for economic assistance from international entities, loans, buy/sell assets, etc. Another number of Venezuelans are more positive that elections are always the solution of these problems, as the will of the people always imposes.

But, is this really true?

  • In 2015, when the MUD (Democratic Unity Board) electoral alliance opposed to Maduro regime, won the parliamentary elections, assuring a absolute majority (3/5 of representatives), the elections were challenged by the government's party in 3 states. At this day, more than two years later, three representatives haven't assumed their position, eliminating the absolute majority to take the necessary reforms in the country. Then, on 2017, the pro-government Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) dissolved the opposition-led National Assembly, starting a constitutional crisis. And the National Constituent Assembly was elected. UPDATE: Smartmatic, the company that provided the technical support of the electoral machines, reported that the results of this constituent election differed from the results disclosed by the National Electoral Council.

  • In 2017, Governor elections were held. These irregularities were found:

1- An electoral population of at least 1,000,080 voters was prevented or hindered from voting in centers historically favorable to the opposition, by damaged machines, tables that did not open or that had unjustified delays until late at night.
2- More than 700 thousand Venezuelans who were migrated from their centers 48 hours before the election and even the same day of the election.
3- An affected electoral population of at least 350,000 citizens affected by violence and intimidation inside and outside the electoral centers, which prevented or hindered the free exercise of the vote.
4- At least 90,537 null votes that should have been awarded to opposition candidates as a result of the impediment of replacing candidates already retired in fraud to the law.
5- Coercion and blackmail to public employees and beneficiaries of social programs forcing them to vote with the accompaniment of PSUV leaders and through the country's card, which prevents the exercise of a free vote.
6 - Voters who exercised multiple votes and disrespecting the principle "one elector one vote", facilitated by the absence of indelible ink for the first time in our history.
7- Irregular extensions after the legal closing time.
8- Obstruction of the audits of the citizen verification process, which makes it impossible to verify the consistency between the votes cast and the results transmitted.
9- Numerical inconsistency of historical electoral results as well as with all the studies, polls and polling stations carried out.

Also, one state election result was called as a fraud by some accredited observers, and other governor elected was stripped of his position by the National Constituent Assembly because of his denial to be be sworn in before them.

So, i come to this thought:

No. Sometimes elections aren't the solution. Dictators only believe that people can vote, but not elect.

Let me explain. Let's read the concept of voting again:

"Voting is a method for a group, such as, a meeting or an electorate to make a decision or express an opinion"

If the electorate is not powered to make a decision by voting on their president then there's no reason to vote at all. And I am pretty sure that all the countries and entities against it know that, and that's the reason why they are not recognizing the future outcome. Also, the people that supports voting are mostly people that will vote for the candidates that have these links to the Maduro regime.

But, don't get me wrong. I still want this elections to happen. I do want to be a witness of a voting fraud. I want this government to flee forward, as it keeps condemning itself. I, as a advocate of abstentionism in this elections, expect that the people of good faith that will participate to vote against Maduro, will recognize that a dictator doesn't come out by votes, and a new movement against dictatorship will rise again with full force, without the government collaborators "opposition leaders" that led us to this mess.

It is our duty to spread the truth. If you agree, i invite you to resteem the post. Let's prevent the world for what could happen if we don't take a stand against Socialist Tyrannies.

brother, you, you are going to vote, however, I am assuming, that, you will pass, the same, that all the elections, that, will be, tricked, besides, the, subject, no, vote, the solution, that, everything, the, People, Venezuelan, go out, without fear, protest and fight, for one, better, vzla, which, sadly, would run blood would be the unfortunate part but it is something that has to happen for this to end

I ran an election hall for a few years in my neighborhood and I had a Venezuela news crew come in to film our process. It was supposed to be helpful but I was busy reporting election fraud so it was a mess. Hillary Clinton was busing in out of state voters and got away with it clean. Not a great day for either us.
