The chip could very well be the next evolution if the smart phone, we will say 10-20 years from now, remember when we use to carry a smartphone everywhere and had to charge it all the time and deal with broken screens, maybe the chip will have a built in sim card and that will be the interface to all our needs with the chip integrating into our nervous system no need for complex brain surgery, I don't think this will ever be mandatory, they will monetize it and the more money you have the better your chip augments reality or gives you an edge in the workplace, maybe poor people will be locked out of the job market because they can't afford to compete with people who are chipped, or the chip that can kill on demand is used by Tyrannical government's or corporations, dissent is shut down in an instant, late on a bill payment or your monthly liscense fee to exist, interesting article, I think 20 more years from now is when society will be out of control in a futuristic dystopian way. Also spent 3 years in Frankfurt and Darmstadt back in the 90's , oh how I LOVED Germany 😀
