Assault weapon laws make no sense. Magazine capacity laws make even less sense. Here is a facet of the existing law that even the most strident anti-gunner would recognize is brain-dead.
Idiotic Thing
In many states with magazine capacity laws, there are exceptions for .22lr tubular magazines. This exception also exists in the proposed federal AWB. This means that your grandpa's Marlin 60 is A-OK, but your Ruger 10/22 with identical magazine capacity isn't OK. How does that make sense? Both fire the same .22lr cartridge, but one looks scary so its the end of the world? Even going apples-to-apples, a tube mag being cool, while a fixed box mag isn't is complete nonsense. They are the same thing, but in one the bullets are stacked end-to-end and in the other one they are stacked on top of each other.
This got me thinking:
I know people support AWB, but do you think they read or understand the laws that they claim to support? They seem to understand them in name only, and you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
The left has already admitted they plan to use a slippery slope where people have their legal protections taken away illegaly, then they use that illegal action as a precedent in the future. Anything is on the table after they have grabbed assault weapons or bump stocks or whatever. Machine guns was too far, those should be legal, its the law, feelings dont matter. Shall not be infringed.
Anyways, Baldie, Hogg and friends said at that gun rally that they will gladly take a mile if we give an inch.
I cannot agree more. 2 responses:
It doesn't make sense. And even if you tried to explain it to them, they wouldn't care..
sad, but that seems true
