from their perspective, classifying everything as confidential is quite practical... and with the full support of the stenographers calling themselves journalists, there is no internal reasons for them to change. As an astute poster wrote, it's maybe because too much democracy was exported, and nothing is left. Externally, however, if they have no reason to be accountable for their mistakes, failings and willing failures there will inevitably be a price to pay relative to those who will willingly try their best to not fall on the same pitfalls.
