‘CHOLESTEROL CON’ ‘No evidence’ high levels of ‘bad’ cholesterol cause heart disease, doctors claim

in #informationwar6 years ago

17 physicians from across the world appear to have dispelled the theory that there are links between having high LDL-C levels - known as bad cholesterol - and fatty deposits that clog arteries

Their findings, published in the Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology, suggest the drugs won't treat heart disease, as they say high bad cholesterol levels don't necessarily lead to heart disease.

Dr Aseem Malhotra, an NHS cardiologist not involved in the study, told MailOnline: "Having reviewed the totality of the evidence, in my view the only people that should be offered statins are those with established heart disease risk.

"For everyone else, the tens of millions taking the drug worldwide who don't fall into these categories, they should know statins won't help them live one day longer."

I read this article this morning and thought I would share it with everyone. Statin drugs are big business for the drug companies so I'm surprised to see this in the news. I've not done much research on statin drugs all that much but I do know all these drugs come with side effects and I've even heard statins cause Alzheimer because they block cholesterol that our brains need to stay healthy.

Doctors are pushing statins big time on people with the slightest chance of having future heart problems and like I said before these drugs have side effects. So now this study is saying these drugs aren't effective for preventing heart problems.

Eating healthier foods is probably the best medicine for a healthy heart and what really bugs me is all the bullshit around good and bad cholesterol. From my research it looks like the problem is highly processed vegetable oils that have been labeled for decades as a healthier options than butter and animal fats.

Some research shows that these vegetable oils are contributing to increased levels LDL the bad cholesterol. It makes me wonder if the food and drug companies are in bed with each other and there's a vicious circle of promoting bad drugs and bad foods to increase profits and drain people of their hard earned money.

11 Serious Concerns About Vegetable Oils

What people refer to as "LDL cholesterol" isn't really cholesterol.

LDL stands for Low Density Lipoprotein... the protein that carries cholesterol in the bloodstream.

One of the crucial steps in the heart disease process, is Low Density Lipoprotein becoming oxidized, forming what are called oxidized LDL particles, or ox-LDL (30).

These are the LDL particles that build up inside the walls of the arteries (31).

Polyunsaturated fats from vegetable oils actually do find their way into LDL lipoproteins, making them much more likely to become oxidized and form ox-LDL particles (32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37).

I encourage everyone to do there own research before a doctor recommends at statin to you or any drug. These drugs have side effects and doctors don't exactly push good alternatives because our definition of healthy food has been so twisted. So do your own homework.

On the other hand I recently read a study that showed that a diet rich in olive oil was actually better than Viagra. That made me add a little in with my butter in the morning.

Perhaps the statin drugs are about to come off patent so they need to get people on to whatever their new patent medicines are?

"Eating healthier foods is probably the best medicine"

That is the big thing that people don't always like to hear. Losing a little weight and eating right go a long way. Statin drugs work to reduce a persons levels but they are pretty hard on the liver so it is kind of a trade off.

Oil is good for you car not your heart. That's a big one for most people to handle over conditioning.

I watched a video of a heart surgeon admitting cholesterol wasn’t the problem but chronic inflammation from causing our body injury from toxins and foods. If it wasn’t for the inflammation, the cholesterol wouldn’t even build up.
Personally, I think eating better is the best, cheapest way to go. But some people are stuck in their ways...and having to live with the consequences.

saturated fats (pork fat butter cheese etc), reduce the inflammation.
every cell inour body is surrounded by alyer of saturated fats..Who would have though eating satuarted fats is in sympathy to our bodies requirements...
_and if it doesnt have access to these fates - it uses other ones (vegetable oils)
With the exceptions of olive and coconut, these poly fats, are causing inflammation to the cells = more cholesterol produced to help protect the inflamed cells.

Simple logic. - ever get the feeling we've been lied to...?
(blame Crisco in the early 20th century and their marketing campaign...it all started there.)

shortening is a saturated fat.

...it used to be - ( pork fat) - but it has been hijacked to include margarine and hydrogenated vegetable oils...

check the ingredients.

I think a discussion of whether lard or Crisco is better for you overlooks the fact that probably neither should be a significant component of your diet. Crisco used to have a lot of transfats and those are certainly not good for anyone.

...overlooks the fact that probably neither should be a significant component

Lots of saturated fats are healthy (still on a low calorie intake) - I've been on high fat diet for 4 years - weight loss, healthier all around, (BP), sleep better, and never ill...

There is nothing good about vegetable oils except olive and coconut oil (high saturated fats)
the entire culture of vegetable oils cam e from the Crisco marketing campaign and big money..
Previously throughout history - our fat intake had been sats.

As I wrote initially - common sense logic dictates - every single cell in our body is surrounded by saturated fats...
Ergo - saturated fats area a good idea...? They work with us, not against us..
non sats line your cells and cause inflammation..

..and since changing my diet, all my food tastes fantastic !

I have been eating mostly butter as an oil for the last 5 years or so and I was recently diagnosed as having a fatty liver so I am adding in some olive oil. I wouldn't really consider using anything but butter or olive oil anyhow.
The most slim I have been as an adult was when I was eating mostly the worst frozen pizzas and little Debbie cream pies

Very insightful article! I completely agree that vegetable oils are not good for cholestoral levels including animal products such as meat and eggs. If you would like to read more about this check out my recent post - hope it helps you out :)
