Inktober 2024, Day 15, 16, 17: Guidebook, Grungy, Journal

The mischief of the last three days.

Hmm. An odd observation - it is somehow easier to have four days in a row to work with than three. Maybe I require some mental preparation, or four days give me an illusion I have more time. Or, I was lucky with how smoothly the previous four days were. I wonder. Regardless, this portion was a bit more challenging.

I enjoyed creating them, nonetheless.

Day 15: Guidebook

Guidebook - Ink drawing, 21 x 16cm, Inktober 2024

Guidebook? Of witchcraft? Spell guide! Yes! That is what I will be doing from now on. Sprinkle some magic all over the prompts, that I find one tune! Duuuude! I get it! You want to travel, hike, trek, and have a guidebook and a journal! And I want a purple fairy dragon! Let me consult with my spell guide on how to summon one!

Salty salt! Meow, yes, I am very salty by now with all the similarly themed prompts. I should ditch them already and stop complaining. But hey! I will stick with them because I have to stick with things, as some parts of my brain tell me.

Here, you can see the process of how I crafted my spell book.

Can you tell that the energy source of my magic comes from the mystery of stars, the universe, and all? I love how it came together and how it seems to reach for those close by. Will you let it pull you in?

Day 16: Grungy

Grungy - Ink drawing, 21 x16cm, Inktober 2024

The prompt on day 16 was - grungy. I wanted to embrace the grunge texture with this one. It was an opportunity for experimentation with different tools in creating these worn-out, aged, abrasive textures. Full disclosure. I had a couple of learning attempts here. I am glad it went the way it did because, in the end, the result was pretty darn cool.

Typically, I would get frustrated about it, and I could feel the tension in my shoulders, but this time, I cursed a couple of times, composed myself, and moved on. I made the conscious choice to relax and continued working. My shoulder and neck are much better now. I hope it stays that way.

So, here we have a couple of pumpkins in distress! As you can tell, until the grunge effect was added in at the end, it was unclear what terrified the poor pumpkins so much they lost their lunch and mind! But something dark was approaching them fast! And thus, the terror!

I used a sponge and a round brush with coarse bristles to create the grunge surrounding the pumpkins! It was so much fun to play around with different strokes, pokes, and splashes on the paper!

Halloween is not far away now! ^^

Day 17: Journal

Journal - Ink drawing, 21 x 16cm, Inktober 2024

The last ink in the trio is for the prompt - Journal. A journal is a notebook where you can write about whatever comes to mind. It could be your travels, daily meditations, dreams, etc. However, one very unusual notebook came to my mind. It is called Death Note If you are unfamiliar with what it is about, Death Note is an S-tier (in my view) Japanese Manga/Anime that revolves around this notebook. The notebook fell into the human world from a different realm where Shinigami ruled. It was, then, picked up by a student named Light Yagami. He soon discovers that the Death Note grants him unique powers. There, there! I will not spoil anything more! You will have to find out more on your own! Muahaha!

C3.png

I consulted Death Note, the anime, for some details that I included in this ink drawing. Hey! What happens if someone decides to try and destroy the Death Note? I imagine Ryuk, the Shinigami who initially dropped the notebook, would come to rescue it! Anyway, once it returns to the realm it came from, it would be as good as new, is my guess of what happens.

32.png

Woah! Look at that! It got chewed up badly! Hold on! Do you see him?! Do you see Ryuk's hand there?! Most curious!

I have only a couple of anime figurines. I have an eye on a few (from Ghost in the Shell, Cyberpunk, and others), but I currently do not have much space to store them. Misa Amane is one of the figurines I currently have. She is holding the Death Note. ^^

The table is getting pretty crowded, huh?! Nice!

There will be more soon! See you again in 4 days!

The arts are very creative

Thank you! I have been enjoying this drawing challenge so much! It teaches me a lot about things I need to improve on and dedicate more time on. It is very eye-opening! :)

I love the spell book and death note! Can I have them? Cheers! I like your drawings, very vivid to me..reminds me also of Tim Burton's aesthetics. 🖤

Ahaha! Sure, are you going to use them for some mischief? :D

Woah! That is a huge compliment! Thank you so much! I love Tim Burton's creations! He has a very unique vision to all his works! :) As a fellow nightly bat alien I certainly relate to them.^^

wow! how beautiful! I loved them all

Thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed them! While it is a bit tiring, I am happy I chose to do a full Inktober again. The learning and the knowledge I am gaining about where I am at with my art journey outweighs the negatives.
