Working on my 17th drawing for Inktober
The preparations are underway this morning for today's Inktober challenge. The Inktober prompt suggestion for the 17th is Swollen. My initial idea was to draw a swollen black eye, but I didn't feel like drawing an eye this morning so I looked up the word in the dictionary to see if I could get a few more ideas going.
Swollen:
verb
a past participle of swell.
- to grow in bulk, as by the absorption of moisture or the processes of growth.
- Pathology. to increase abnormally in size, as by inflation, distention, accumulation of fluids, or the like...

I have decided to get out my ink pens and join in with Inktober, you can find more details about Inktober on the website: https://inktober.com/.
Can you guess what I am creating?
The first part of the today's process involved candle wax and a piece of bent wire and a cigarette lighter.
Like a moth to a flame
After that I moved on to using inks and water
Before finishing it off with a dash of salt for added flavour.
Now time for it all to dry, before I add to my drawing.
I'll be posting the finished result later today, so keep an eye out!
If you want to see some of my previous ink illustrations check out DWELLING, an illustrated crime novel collaboration between myself and fellow Steemian @dougkarr, set in New York’s Lower East Side. Dwelling is now available in print and ePub.
Hehe looks like you have fun experimenting. Looking forward for the finished artwork 😌
I brought out the flames for this piece- :D
wow, super interesting techniques there!! Ill keep an eye out for the finished result! I am myself super lost on what to draw for swollen!! 😶
I think Swollen is the hardest prompt so far.
Same for me 😬
You really approach this with a lot of fun experiment, good on ya. Swollen is not the most inspiring of words, but I've seen some good ones today and I like your experimentation!
