More Gothic Styled Silver Stacking today!
I miss my late cat ‘Runt’, so as I patiently wait until an adorable cat to come adopt me I have ‘Twilight’ as the stand-in cat to fill in the quiet emptiness of my home and heart, or so I thought.

The Haunted Black Toy Cat
It was a late afternoon quick shop to pick up a few needed ingredients for a late dinner that evening. I spotted him at my local grocers at a small display of similar animal toys after I thought I heard was a disembodied meow as I strode pass aisle 13’s household goods.
The store’s usual ambient music wasn’t the typical dull elevator styled music rather it turned to something eerie in nature. I first ignored the toy stepping past the display before another meow resonated from over my shoulder. This time it had a pleading tone to it.
“I didn’t really hear that, did I?” I buttoned up my sweater perceiving what may be an imagined draft in the store. My rational thinking of a lady with her guide dog I helped one time. Guide dogs in the store were allowed but I never heard of guide cats. Was there a guide cat running loose around the shelves?
The Silver Bars
Backing up my shopping cart a few steps I scanned over on to my left and on the shelf was this black kitten toy.
I picked it up.
Its fur was a glistening void of black highlighted with patches of pink outlining the distinct features of a feline caricature. The few white whiskers accentuated the little pink smile with a sense of joy the golden eyes sparkled. ”meow…buy me…”
I usually don’t give into impulse buying but the urge was palpable. I looked up and down the aisle to see if there was a Store clerk available but to no avail I was the only person here. I glanced back at the display but it was gone. Pet food was in its place, odd.
I looked at the this toy cat again, printed on the product tag was a name, “Hi, I’m Twilight.” On the back of the tag was a bright red sticker printed as 50% off MRSP $10.
I whispered to myself, “Five bucks? I don’t think I will break the budget with this cutie.” I sat the toy up on the cart kiddie seat as I turned out the aisle to the front of the store.
The store atmosphere seemed to reverberate back to it’s usual passive advertising barrage of colors and visible temptations. The bright packaging and gold tags again vying for my eye attention. The store activity picked up. I turned into a newly opened queue operated by a familiar old gentleman. He smiled, “Welcome back Miss. Need any bags?”
“No thank you sir. You haven’t retired yet?” I replied as he scanned each of the items.
He smiled, “I can’t afford to, this damn inflation. At least it gives me something to do.”
“We can’t bank on those lottery tickets. So I saved in old silver coins to save my buying power.” I started bagging the items. “You could get into Cryptos.”
“That's a good ideal for you younger kids, I still have an old coin collection somewhere. What do we have here? I thought we had long sold out these furry critters.” He scanned the toy. “Where did you find it?” the system paused, searching for the item information.
“In aisle 13.”
“13? We don’t have an aisle 13. Well sort of, we renumbered that aisle as 14 since the boss was superstitious and we haven’t changed it back since he passed away ten years ago. Almost 20 years ago we got a shipment of these Halloween toys from nowhere, among the remaining toys is this cat. Customers kept returning this toy. Some of our night staff at the time got the heebie jeebies.”
“Oh, like what?” I replied.
He paused as if in contemplation whether he should say it or not, “One time our butcher came in early in the morning and saw a little black shadow walking across his section. His butcher's knives almost arranged haphazard with spots of blood on the floor in a sort of ritual thing. Can you believe that? You see this happened more than once and has been seen by other staff so the boss got a priest to sprinkle holy water around the store and this toy disappeared since.” He twirled the tip of his mustache then winked. “Staffing at night was a problem. You still want it?”
“Oh now you’re pulling my leg.” I held up my credit card with a smile.
The old cashier grinned, “That will be $98.13, card as usual.” The card pad beeped. “Will you need a hand to your car Ms.?”
“No thank you sir, and hang on to those silver coins. I think you will need them.

Look What the toy Cat dragged in
I know Twilight is an adorable cat but there is definitely something peculiar with this toy.
This is what I believe to be a custom dagger knife made by Robert Jolly, R.J. Kegler out of Montana handcrafting custom knives since 1977. Robert’s son Jolly took over the establishment in 1997. There is very little specific information on this knife but this looks very well made, has a perfect balance and the polished mother-of-pearl handle fits remarkably well in my hand.
Knife collecting bulletin boards have featured other RJ Kegler products with glowing testimonials attesting to the quality and craftsmanship of this brand. RJ Kegler knives have sold with remarkable prices in the few Auction opportunities I found..

Scottsdale is just making a quick buck on this limited edition series and not anything ground breaking. True, while this appeals to my Gothic style but for everyone one else I think most silver Stackers are better off price-wise with their regular line of shiny Scottsdale One Troy ounce bars.
Did you know that October 2024 is Black Cat Awareness month?
Yes you read this correctly. Even I didn't know of this initiative. Black cats have a bad reputation of bad fortune, stealing souls of children, associated with death and so on. Black Cat awareness month founder Layla Morgan Wilde established this annual October initiative back in 2013 to correct that perception.

The UK and the USA does have a National Black Cat day but set aside as one day. The founder of Black Cat awareness month may be overcompensating something but her heart for humane treatment of our feline friends is on target.
Yes, the selling price does make one shriek in horror and flee in terror, or was it shriek in terror and flee in horror? 😱 I think for the non-horror genre fan Stacker, they are better off with Scottsdale's vortex or regular bars price wise. Meanwhile, I have more than enough silver, any more is just icing on the cake, so it's stacking for fun! 🎃 (and for my extended family who don't stack).

Cats of any color including silver and gold would be welcomed in my home.
It was the cats that first caught my eye in this 12 bar set, like two different personalities as the first 8 are dark and freaky, while the remaining 4 are toned to a kid friendly version.

Strays are rare in my town because of tight regulations in their licensing, registration, 'health' screening, etc. ... more like a scam to keep the pet industry and the local government in the ca$h to me.
These silver cats are a treasure but can't welcome me home, cuddle up to me, keep my home mouse free, or keep my lap warm. 🐈
Yeah we gotta find them their own homes soon but now they are too little and still too attached to their mama here (I named her Luna). But there are nice people around my place looking after them too.
How I wish you can adopt one of Luna's kitties. 😊

I've already had a grey tabby come visit and made himself at home. He has an owner in the neighborhood already and he's here because his adopted human is not home often enough to give him attention.

Love it sis! The silver is precious and so is Twilight! I understand about the hearing of the kitty voice in the store. I have a similar story about @actifit-lamb, but her urging was more telepathic than an audible voice, lol! The result was the same though.

It seems so natural how this kitten or any favorite toy communicates with us when we're children. But as a rational adult? We're talking paranormal stuff. Now that I think of it, like this situation is right out of X-Files, or from the files of the SCP Foundation, or the TWILIGHT ZONE! And that's the clue! I think @geneeverett may appreciate this nod to the legacy of Rod Serling.
