Your great grandfather sounds like he was a great man! It's a shame that in our world today there few if any people like that...
That is some pretty silver, the coins and that Scottsdale bar. I loved them all!
Sorry to hear that your health isn't doing great. It's a feeling I understand all too well, and it really does suck when you're no longer able to do what you were trained to do. I guess the free time is worth more in all reality, and the disability really is a godsend.
Take care of yourself, you have a lot of good years ahead of you still!

I've looked at some old family pictures I got from my mom. I wondered what kind of person he was. At least an easy going person that cooked up a legendary Chick-a-la-king when he ran the diner part of the business. The pool hall had only one pool table. It became the place to go when nothing else is happening.
When the train stopped to pick up coal and water for the engine, passengers had 30 minutes, got off to grab some eats at his diner. He didn't have a cash register, many were soldiers paid in foreign coins. This was where my gran-gramps got my Australian and Hong Kong coins from soldiers heading east to the war. After the war soldiers went back dropping off European silver coins, most from the UK. I should really write a post on this very subject. Later.
