Made the First ASIC Miner Purchase For The Solar Powered Mining Farm!

in #inleo2 days ago

I have been shopping for a couple of weeks for good deals on smaller 'Home Miners' that run on lower power and would be very efficient to run on the solar powered mining farm I am trying to build. Now this thing wasn't cheap, but I feel like it is a great purchase.

It's crazy to see, but there are an epic surplus of old BTC miners out there on eBay. I can get 2 Bitmain S19s for the same price that I bought this one mini DOGE/LTC miner for, but I would actually make more with this little one because the S19s are just too big for something like I am building. So, by the way, if you are looking for Bitmain S19s, there are a bunch available.

Hashrate vs Power

This little miner is extremely power efficient for what I am building. It has 2 options, I can run at 700 M/Hs at 400W or 550 M/Hs at 260W. That's pretty awesome really. I can build a very low cost solar system to run this miner at either level. I would rather get the most out of it I can. The low power would increase the life of the miner though, so it's something to think about.

Easy Management

I am thinking that it would be best to keep an eye and manage it daily. Say if it's cloudy outside and I am not getting much solar, I can switch to the lower level and run it, or even plug into the grid for a bit and just exchange some electricity for DOGE and LTC! It would be easy to switch back and forth because of where I am putting the miner in my shop. This way I can keep running a lower power setting, but still making some money at night or on bad weather days.

It doesn't come with a power supply unit, but I have a 750W PSU from an old GPU build that I am going to use until I can pick up something like a Bitmain A3++ PSU. At that point, I would be able to run at least 3 or more on 1 power supply.

Wrapping it up

So all in all, even at $961 after tax, it's a great deal and will start earning some revenue for @run-a-muck-farms as soon as it comes in. I bought it from a US dealer with free shipping. If I would get it from China, I would have to probably have duties tacked onto the price. So if I can buy it here, then that is the way to go. Honestly, the duty is probably baked into the price here, but it's worth it to just pay and be done and not have to deal with anything after the initial purchase. For the type of farm I am building, these smaller 'Home Miners' are certainly the way to go. I was looking at older Bitmain L3+'s, but I get more hashrate for half the power with this Goldshell, so I am going to be better off for it.

The supply of DOGE miners, especially these and the previous versions are pretty thin. That means that people are still mining with them. That means that even the used machines are holding their value, so I could still get some good money for it later on if I were to upgrade. Or, I would just keep on mining till it dies, lol. That's really the plan.

Until next time my friends...
