Africa my beautiful home, home to the race of black man and woman. The home of civilization but yet my people live in darkness and poverty. Great men and woman as come from this beautiful race call Africa. Yet honor and respect is not given to us as a woman, they see us as second option.
We are the mother of civilization, reflecting on Egypt civilization and Roman empire our contribution to civilization can never be look away. We bring hope to the future for all africans; yet we are not given our honor, value and place in the society. We are classified as second class citizen; but they quickly forget our role in the development of Rwanda after the genocide war. We are the bridge of development in Africa we lead the present to the future, bringing hope to the hopeless.
We grow up into the concept of culture, which give more value to man and the boy child. In the igbo tradition in Nigeria a female child does not have right to inheritance. My mother is a victim of Africa culture, A daughter of a rich man turned beggar on the street because of culture that give too much value to the male child. My mother was born into the family of six children which consistent of 5 girls and one boy. After the death of my grand father, the elders of the family decided to hand over all my grand father property to my mother younger brother because he is the only son. He was ask to take care of my mother and his sisters. For over 15 years he never let anyone enjoy the property except him and his nuclear family.
He actually made me grow through pain because i am a woman. Some times i ask myself is it a crime to be a woman? I believe woman and men need to have equal right. It looks impossible for a woman to be president of Ghana or Nigeria and many African countries. What many failed to understand is that we are the mother of the society, you cant have s good society without the input of a women.
As an African woman we have to be brave and courageous in everything we do. We have to fight for our space in the society. We are not second class citizen as many people think.
This post is for every Africa women out there going through pain, shame and poverty. We are the victim of marginlization. Every thing will be fine let us speak up. if you love and appreciate us support this post.
