Once upon a time in a land far away lived a young girl who loved to get her boogy on. She would attend dance class after dance class, performing in large auditoriums, small nursing homes, even New York City, but most often than not, you would find her right in the middle of her kitchen spinning, twirling and even tap dancing to her hearts content.
Then one day, this young girl grew up. Attending classes slowly faded into the distance, as new opportunities to teach emerged.
It was was a fun time, and she loved it very much. But new life choices that she couldn't pass up came her way, and she chose to move away with her family to a foreign land, but no matter what, you could always find her dancing in her kitchen.
Then out of nowhere, a magical room in their home came to being, big enough for the two of them dance together.
When the mother asked her daughter if she would still like the to learn, the daughter squealed and said yes! They began to practice three days a week.
The daughter didn't own ballet shoes yet, so the mother kept her own tucked away. They danced in their socks, laughing and giggling, creating memories of their own. All the while, the mother still wished and hoped that one day they would be able to put on their ballet shoes together.
As the weather turned cold, Christmas was soon upon them. With cheery music filling their home, the two of them danced for hours and hours, spinning and twirling.
Then on Christmas morning, as the daughter was unwrapping her presents, she pulled out a small purple box. With confusion in her eyes, she opened it up and pulled out her very own ballet shoes.
With her daughter wearing her own, the mother fondly slipped on her worn, beloved shoes.
Later the mother asked her daughter, "Do you still want to be a ballerina?"
"No," the daughter said. "I just want to dance in my kitchen."
However, soon we'll be leaving here, and we don't yet know what the future holds! But I will tell you, that we are much more committed now, and I feel like we could really find a way if we wanted to.
Thanks so much for sharing this fun story with me!
Much love,
Stacie D
