Homemade Gula Melaka Boba Milk
It's TGIF once again and it's Harvest Festival!
Wishing all of you who are celebrating a Happy Harvest Festival all!ππ
Lately I've been craving for some boba pearlsπ€€π and i had to admit it's quite costly if i just buy it from the shop. π
So i decided to be more adventures and create one on my own.
Why not right? π
When your inner chef is activated this is what happens. π
I found out that actually you just need a few simple main ingredients only to make it. This is my 1st time making this so i wasn't so sure how it would turns out. Hehe!
So here you go,the list of the ingredients :
- 1 box of full cream milk or any kind of milk that you prefer.
- Gula melaka or brown sugar
- Tapioca Starch
- Water
Those ingredients only cost me RM11.70 which i can make 4glass or more of this homemade gula melaka boba milk drink. π You can drink till you drop.π€£
So 1st,lets bring some water to a boil.
Then add in 1whole piece of the gula melaka.
Boil until the sugar completely melts.
After that scoop up some melted gula melaka and set it aside in the fridge to chill. This is for soaking the cooked boba pearls later on so that it won't stick together.
Now let's make the boba pearls!
Pour at least 9 tablespoon of tapioca starch on a plate.
Boil some water using an electric kettle.
After the water is boiling hot, quickly pour it in the center of the tapioca starch.(This part is abit tricky because you need to act really fast or else it won't turn out into a paste or hardens and breaks apart easily)
You just need at least 2 or 3 tablespoon of hot water.
Mixed it with a spoon then use your hands to kneed it abit. Remember to dip in some starch so that it won't stick to your hands.
I actually made a small mistakes for the 1st batch I did, which is adding too much hot water and it's so so sticky until i got my fingers all sticking together. Opss! Hahaha.I did get annoyed because it's so hard to get it off my hands. πππ
At the end i managed to make it work anyway then rolled it into small round balls.
Actually i accidentally make the size abit too big which will take more time to cook.
30mins to 50mins to cook.
While waiting for the 1st batch of boba pearls to cook, I made a 2nd batch of it.
This time I'm more careful not to add too much hot water.π
I add only 3tablespoon of water and 8 tablespoon of tapioca starch.
So this is actually how it supposed to look like. Making it into a dough and roll it into little round boba pearls was quite fun actually and also it will test your patience too. Hahaha.
This time for my 2nd batch, i made it into a smaller size.
Coat with some tapioca starch again.
Then into the boiling gula melaka syrup.
At 1st it will float on top of the liquid.
Do check and give it a stir every 5mins.
Once it's cooked,it will sink to the bottom of the pot and turns transparent.
It's completely cooked if you see some transparent bubbles in the center part of the pearl.
Drained it and soak it in the gula melaka syrup that is chilled earlier on.
Looking good right! π€€π
After that i put it back in the fridge to chill and let it sit for around 30mins or 1hr so that the gula melaka flavour will settle down in the boba pearls which made it taste better.
Then it's finally ready to be served.
Scoop any amount of boba pearls as you like and some of the syrup too(Depends on how sweet or less sweet you want it to be)
Pour your choice of milk and it's ready! π
You can add some ice cubes too if you like to.
Cheers!! π€€
Enjoy your homemade gula melaka boba milk! β€οΈ
Spot that super huge boba pearls! π€£
Taste review : Surprisingly it tasted just like the ones selling in the milky tea cafe. π
My dad said not bad, very standard taste and same like the famous "Tiger Sugar" that he ever tasted in KL. (He actually doesn't really drink this kind of drinks but he is happily satisfied π)
And my other two darlings too, happily approved after tasting it. πππππ
*There is this friend who suddenly texted me and asked if I'm making it for sell. ππGuess i can make and sell it in the future.Hahaha!
I'm kidding! Too much work to doπ
It's my 1st attempt and it is successful!
Yay!ππ
What's next?
π€π
@gracefu is adventures today. π
