Bamboo is a very versatile plant.There can be several ways bamboo can be used.
The first way someone can be tortured and killed with bamboo is by tying them down, about a foot off the ground. Bamboo stalks will be planted beneath them, and will slowly grow until the mostly dull bamboo pierces through the body slowly.
While not the worst physical pain, like slowly cutting off a body part, this torture method would still inflict insane psychological horror upon the victim.
The second way bamboo is used to torture someone, is by inserting thin stalks of it up the length of someone’s fingertips. The fingertips are the worst place for it because it has many nerves, which is why a paper cut hurts so bad. When the body is under so much physical pain, the heart rate drops down and the pain receptors are almost completely shut off. But it can be shocked with a defibrillator so the heart rate would speed up, allowing them to feel the pain again.
Because the wounds caused by the piercing of the fingers are not at all fatal, as very little blood is lost, the cycle can be completed for days upon days.
These torture method were popular during the Vietnam war.
