Insect Earwig
Earwigs are nocturnal insects which can be found sleeping in dark crevices during the day. For the most part, the earwig prefers a vegetarian diet however it sometimes supplements this standard diet with carrion and other insects.
Quite unusually amongst insects, the earwig is known for its maternal instinct and protective inclination towards its young. Despite the fact that earwigs have wings, they very rarely fly and prefer to walk.
