The morning I was hacking down weeds to let the potato mounds dry out, I swiped a bunch and this mama mantis emerged from the cut foliage somehow unscathed but unable to fly. She was lucky I glimpsed her quick to stop swinging my tool and gently moved her to atop the greenhouse to dry off. Hopefully not to become prey to the nearest bird daring enough to pounce. Oh the circle of life.
Does anyone else think she looks pregnant?
