Check my nose!

moth.jpg

This moth was hanging out in the bathroom of the house I visited with all the big spiders. No wonder there are so many! Something straight out of @ewkaw's nightmares.

Moth antennae are the equivalent of a nose and moths use them to detect flower scents and even more importantly, a mate. Because of their short lifespans, time is of the essence. Scientists also think that antennae are used to control flight: with something that large, why not?

As for the eyes, they are just like owl eyes and moths mostly use their antennae to navigate. Unfortunately, the light in the bathroom means that this dude is unlikely to make it out alive

Nature's creation is very surprising. But you have given a beautiful interpretation of this creation. Thanks @nikv for sharing.

Thank you

Good picture. This is not a butterfly, but a real monster of science fiction films. Just super.

Most insects are like that up close

What a beauty!

I think so

You just had to tag me here! :p

Wow! If they are much bigger, I would think they are aliens in disguise!

Looks like king midas touched that moth. Nice golden details.

Many moths have a little gold dust on them

Every now and then the waxworms i feed my tarantulas hatch into silvery moths. The spiders sometimes prefer the moths to the caterpillars for some reason.
