Recently I was vacationing in the northern part of India & I made a visit to Buddhist Monastery.Outside of the monastery, there was a Tibetan bazar.
A Tibetan medicine store caught my fancy. I walked up to the store to see an old, affable man indulging a street dog affectionately.
I asked if he had some hair oil to prevent hair loss.
He looked at me and my hair with curiosity and gently asked
“Why do you need it?”
“I am losing hair, therefore, I need it.”
“So, what will happen if you have a head full of hair?” he asked sincerely.
“Well, I will feel happier if I have my hair intact” I answered with a bit of frustration.
The old man gave a sympathetic smile to indicate that he saw it coming.
“When you had hair, lots of it, were you really happy?” He added, “Think about it".
I looked at the old man with surprise.
He had a prospective customer in me who was willing to buy from him.
Through his questions, he dissuaded me from buying for the wrong reason.
I realized he had a point.Coming to think of it,
I went there to buy a bottle of ‘magical’ hair oil and brought back some life perspective for FREE.
Moral: Don't sell a product, sell a solution instead.
