Waves Of Wandering

After I had come up with the quote that started the ideas for a book, which to be honest, was a actually a dialogue directed at myself, the inspiration for the bits that followed would come to me randomly. Sometimes in crashing waves, sometimes in gentle wandering streams.

This was the quote :

This is what followed and when I had written it, I realised that I was going to be writing the main character as a male...

When the ghostly tendrils of dawn started to penetrate the rich and absolute blackness of night, slyly, insidiously, there was no stopping the progress of the new day, the new dawn. I awoke in a rush of consciousness, heart pounding and twisting in a half recollection of wondrous beginnings. When I opened my eyes the bleak landscape around me shocked my senses. She was gone! It would have been just a dream then...but no, I could still smell her scent of forgiveness, taste her salty tears of understanding, feel the imprint of her insistent motivation.

Of course, in my frantic rush to find her, I'd not thought to come prepared for anything beyond the search. I had no supplies of any form, or any way to retrace my steps back to reality. The clothes on my back the only link to any resemblance of a well thought out plan. I sat on the shore and gazed out over the once familiar ocean. The small lazy waves sliding over the sand were mocking reminders of what could have been. When I felt my mind begin to splinter into alternate, parallel existence, I got to my feet, blindfolding my mind to anything beyond leaving this place. But first, I opened my arms and screamed out over the sea. All the regrets, all the rage, all the hurt, pain and unfairness, everything that had conspired to bring me to this apex of nothingness in my life. Then I closed my heart and started the return journey.
