There is a close relationship between action and decision no wonder people find it quite difficult to distinguish between both. When a decision is made, we automatically commit ourselves into carrying out certain action. Primarily, decision-making is seen as formulating preferences; a situation where we get to pick out the best or better alternative to a situation. But come to think of it, our decision preferences are not related to our actions, for instance an individual can prefer alternative A to B without really doing anything about his preference.
Previously we talked about decision-making being backed up with actions, and the relevance of developing such habit. However, you can’t have an idea of how to take care of this problem if you don’t know the various reasons why you fail to take actions.
Let’s dive right into it!
WE MAKE A TRAILER LOAD OF DECISIONS.
Now friends, making a lot of decisions is not wrong, what is wrong is trying to achieve them all at once. When can write a list of things we intend to achieve to improve our life and future, but it is still humanly impossible to achieve all at once, when we have such a mentality, we get stressed trying to figure out how to kill ourselves with unnecessary pressure causes us to lag in taking actions.
This is how to deal with this: write your list of decisions in order of priorities, then you focus on the top on your list, try to achieve your first goal. This will help speed up your progress, and reduce stress/pressure. You’ll be amazed at the progress you've made in a short while.
WE TRY TO HAVE EVERYTHING WE NEED BEFORE WE ACT.
Stop waiting for things to fall in place before you start taking action. Conditions may not get perfect until you start making moves.
What if things never get perfect? Are we going to seat back and allow our decisions to suffer?. Try to understand that things may not work out the way we expect all the time.
Things will always not feel right, but when you make do of what you have you’ll start seeing results no matter how small. The most important thing is that we are getting our results.
Know that the resources needed to achieve our set goal may not be fully formed, until you take that little action, subsequently it becomes easier and clearer, we just need to apply the strength that comes with consistency.
If you want something so bad, obstacles won’t slow you down, rather you’ll focus on what you want to achieve and draw strength from it. Which leads us to our next point...
BE CONSISTENT BE INTENTIONAL.
It will be weird at first, you’ll get confused, many times your won’t know what you are doing. Once you get started, continue to take action, it’ll make total sense soon. The problem is not in getting started, it is in being consistent.
You don’t need to speed things up, you can follow your pace, and still remain consistent. Don’t over-think.
That’s where people get it wrong, they over-think and speed things up because they try to measure the success of others with theirs.
Ensure you continually do things that are productive to your career daily.
Those little tasks will expand soon and your confidence level will be enhanced.
There are numerous reasons why we don’t take action, but this is the few we can look at for now, I hope this helps, thank you!
