Inspiration of the week #3 - Comparing is the end of happiness and the beginning of dissatisfaction

in #inspiration7 years ago

I was very pleased with my developments here at Steemit - I think there is a slow but steady gradient in all areas - until I looked at how much response others have to their posts (financial and social).

This post was already published in German yesterday and because of the great reactions I decided to do the work and also share it with you, my English speaking followers!

And there they were, the evil thoughts:
"Pussy! Why does she make so much and I earn so little? What the fuck has so many voices? What's there who has a much shorter run and already has a lot more followers? I'll never make it! I can't create content that moves the masses! My limit is already reached! That's all it's gonna take. Nobody cares about what I write! Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah! I should stop posting here. It's just a waste of time!"

Well, you can only say:"Foolishly ran! If only you hadn't looked!"

Because you only see the result. You don't know what's behind it when someone gets an extremely high number of upvotes and many comments.

  • Has this person been with us for a long time?
  • Is this person more socially connected?
  • Does he/she know many Steemians personally?
  • Has he/she just been lucky and has been detected and resteemt by an influencer?
  • How much money or effort has this person put into the marketing of the contribution?
  • And so on... Questions about questions that determine the "success" of a contribution here.

And you can't look behind the curtain - no matter how big the response:

  • Is this person perhaps still dissatisfied with it and thinking about quitting?
  • Is this person sitting in front of the PC like me and trembling for the first Upvotes?
  • Do they have the same doubts as me (only at a higher level)?

Hence my advice:

Just compare yourselves with yourselves, because that's what it's all about: that you get a little bit better every day. It's about consistency, a vision and the confidence that your actions will one day lead you to your vision.

A little excursus about the vision

In May 2017 I bought an online course, which I wanted to recreate and market my own product, the success teams for business women.

Well, I didn't get beyond the first two chapters, but I developed something very important*, namely my vision for 2018 and it wasn't about earning money, but about other, more important things. And although I don't look at my picture as recommended every day and connect to it, I have been approaching my own vision step by step ever since.

(*Sorry, but I have this file only in German. The words written down are: light as a feather, free, strong, bright, connected)

For me Steemit is an important part of it, not because I will earn a fortune here, no! But because it teaches me consistency, trust and letting go and because it brings me closer to writing without too much pressure for success and performance.

Here I can try out what wants to get out of me. Here I can see that this is also recognised. Here I will meander through until I have found out which work it is, which is really in me and urgently needs to be written down. Until then, I will be happy if you accompany me on my way....

End of excursus

Not every kind of comparison is bad

Finally, I have to say that not every kind of comparison is bad. Only the destructive comparison, in which I make myself (or others) small, is bad and brings misfortune and dissatisfaction.

But when I have a rather "scientifical" objective approach and look:"Ok. This user has won many followers in a short time. Or this user has above-average payouts. How does he/she do it?" then I can learn a lot and instead of bathing in self-pity, become active and adapt my actions to progress on the way to my vision...

In this way, I try to find out what I can do to improve my own results in the long term, without questioning my work and achievements to date.

steemit is ideal for this purpose, because it is an open book. Someone is successful? You can see everything he/she does and learn from it. So let's go!

Who have you been inspired by here?

I can say it quite frankly.

My role models

My first role model was @asperger-kids. From @donkong (huhu! donkong where have you been???) and @brixter I have the idea of the sequel stories, which I have unfortunately not yet put into practice and @andalucia has motivated me with his quotations, which daily achieve good resonance to make also quotations, however only weekly... Oh yes and @prettycynthia s #funnymemories....
