So I have to be honest. Last week was rough. I mean really rough. Lack of sleep due to a 2 year old…husband got into a car accident…and many other things caused last week to be a blur. So much of a blur that I can’t even remember if I spent time with God or if I even prayed last week.
Then the old saying came to my mind “when life give you lemons, make lemonade.” I know all that really means is you have to make the best out of what “life” throws at you. But, I propose that we look at a little differently. Maybe these really aren’t lemons. Now don’t get me wrong, God doesn’t do bad things to us. But maybe, just maybe these are opportunities for us to stretch our Faith. Stretch our belief or maybe just see things in a different light. Okay yes I was up all night with a 2 year old several nights last week, but instead of grumbling about that I need to cherish those moments because there will be the moment I am taking her to her first day of Kindergarten, her first day of college and without getting too emotional watching her marry the man of her dreams. I need to cherish this time with her, hug on her and understand that she needs me at that moment and I don’t know when she will decide she doesn’t need me as much.
We have to remember that no matter what we have going on that we have to on purpose take time out to read what God has to say about our lives and speak to Him. Talk to Him, make sure you are putting first things first. Doing this will allow you to see those “lemons” differently. If you put Him first the day will go a lot smoother than if you decide to just “skip” that devotional reading or decide not to pray that day.
What are you allowing to get in the way of your time with God? God wants to talk to you. He wants to reveal things to you. If we get so busy with life we might miss out on an amazing opportunity that God wants to give to us.
So today I encourage you go ahead and keep those so called “lemons” because maybe they aren’t lemons at all, maybe they are just an opportunity. An opportunity to reflect some joy or reflect some faith. Don’t reflect on the negative instead focus on the good that is in there.
