15 Curious Facts About How Men’s Bodies Work

in #interesting7 years ago

Scientists from different countries of the world continue to research the difference between men and women, and they actively decode new and important secrets of men’s bodies and minds. We at Bright Side put together a list of curious facts about men. Perhaps some of them will be a revelation to you.

• When men listen, they use only half their brain; the other half can think about something else. It’s different with women. When they listen, they listen with their entire brain. That is why, when speaking to a man, it’s important to be brief and precise.

• The senses of hearing, smell, and taste in an average man are less developed than in a woman. This is the product of evolution: men were originally hunters and had to notice movements, while women were gatherers and so developed those senses more.

• Women can see more details in darkness but only those that are near to them. Men’s vision in the dark is slightly worse, but they can see details at any distance

• There are 3 times more left-handers among men than among women. The scientific explanation for this phenomenon has still not been found. Researchers at the Australian National University found that left-handed people can process larger volumes of information than right-handed people.

• Men can cope with physical activity much better. An average man will carry about 8-10 pints of blood. Women with an average body build will have about 6-7 pints of blood. Moreover, men’s blood is richer with hemoglobin and red blood cells, making oxygen circulation more efficient.

• Men are not affected by cellulite. This is because men and women have different ratios of muscles, fat, and connective tissues in their bodies. Men are born with more developed muscles, and their skin contains more collagen.

• Men sleep better. The electrical activity of a man’s brain drops to 70%, while women’s only drop to 10%. The reason for this can be found in the history of primitive society. Men were the hunters; at home, they had to rest. Women were the home keepers, taking care of the children.

• It is easier for a man to lose weight. A man’s body burns more calories delivering energy to the muscles and other organs. At the same time, the level of testosterone in a man’s body is 7 times higher, which increases metabolism (despite the fact that their muscle mass is significantly higher than that of a woman).

• Men see moving objects better than still ones. That is why a man always pays attention to a dancing girl.

• Men are more inclined to get a fat belly. The reason is that men don’t gain fat under the skin (as women do) but inside their abdominal cavity between their internal organs.

• Men have a weaker immune system, and they are more affected by infectious diseases than women. The reason is higher testosterone, which has a higher anti-inflammatory effect. This hormone reinforces the genes that decrease inflammation, and so a body produces fewer antibodies.

• Men usually have a bigger bladder and need to empty it less often than women. Women have more organs inside their pelvis, leaving less space for the bladder. The average bladder volume of a woman is around 0.4-1 pint, while a man’s bladder is around 1.5 pints.

• A man’s body contains 1.5 times more oil glands and sweat glands than a woman’s body. That is why a man’s skin produces more skin oil and, therefore, looks more oily.

• Men are less resistant to high temperatures. On the other hand, a man’s body is a natural heater because its temperature is 0.2 degrees higher on average than a woman’s. This is connected to men’s higher metabolism.

• Men are genetically simpler than women. Active X chromosomes are a combination of maternal and paternal cells. Men receive their X chromosomes from their mothers. The Y chromosome contains less than 100 genes, while the X chromosome carries more than 1,500 genes.

Men and women are different with every cell of their bodies because they carry different gene combinations. But due to our differences, we become more interesting and appealing to each other, do we not?
