Looks like INTERNET - Life Facts No.5

in #internet7 years ago (edited)

Most experienced Internet through screens of computers, phones and tablets, but rarely ask ourselves how all these strong data transfers. If you imagine it physically in the form of large buildings filled cables and servers, with strict security, then you are not far from reality.

Internet is actually located in a variety of buildings, which are called "carrier hotels" in which network operators are connected to a larger network - or the Internet. This process enables hundreds of kilometers of cables that are connected to the seemingly endless rows of servers.

Peter Garritano, a photographer from Brooklyn, visited five hubs (carrier hotel) in New York to a wider mass closer to how it looks in physical space. Access to this hotel is not simple. On every corner you waiting guards, security checkpoints with biometric devices and even hidden traps. See below as it looks in the real world.
