By ending what Obama’s administration named “Net Neutrality”, FCC freed the Internet. This regulation had little to do with neutrality and everything to do with Government control of the Internet. And if there is a worst place for Government control, that would be the Internet.
Proponents of the regulation had done much to confuse the issue by standing it on its head. They spread fear that providers would start charging different prices for different services. They distracted the public from the fact that allowing providers to make economic decisions to route traffic based on its requirements would reduce overall costs and prices. The mandate to treat all traffic the same has little to do with the cost of the traffic and everything to do with taking away the ability of the provider to route the traffic intelligently.
Don’t expect your cable Internet bill to increase, it will not. Chances are, your provider already has different levels of service based on the maximum bandwidth. That won’t change. You might, however, experience a more responsive Internet connection because providers can use their routing expertise and are not required to follow a crony mandate of a clueless bureaucrat.

You know a lot of regulations seem extraneous when you assume all parties will act in good faith. ISPs historically have not done so and I have no reason to believe they ever will. So I'd rather deal with the downside of a slower internet than a closed one.

but whats to stop an internet provider like comcast to slow down steaming from say netflix or hulu and boost bandwidth on their own steaming video to sway customers to dump netflix and buy into their streaming options thus increasing your cable bill and causing businesses such as Netflix to see losses due to an ISP having an unfair advantage of being able to control speeds of their competitors?
Their customers.
