We use a web browser every day. You are probably using a web browser right now. In fact, the entire internet seems to revolve around the humble web browser. For the longest time, it seemed like Chrome was dominating the scene against Firefox, however times have changed. Firefox Quantam has been released and has shaken up the competition. We will be covering the eternal rivalry that is Chrome vs Firefox.
In this post, we will determine which browser is better and why.

Has Firefox overtaken Chrome? Let's find out.
Google Chrome
This is the crown jewel of the Google Ecosystem. Chrome came from behind and took the lead market share from Firefox and Explorer. Chrome is swift, secure, and has wide support. Similarly to Firefox, Chrome has hundreds, if not thousands of extensions.
Everything from productivity to parental controls to games: you can get pretty much any extension for any purpose on Chrome. You can make dozens of tweaks to improve your efficiency on the internet in countless ways.
With that being said, Chrome is incredibly resource hungry. So resource hungry that your computer can struggle to even have 10 tabs open at once when multitasking. Furthermore, its performance is no longer a selling point of this browser. Chrome has gone from being the swiftest to just average. Mozilla has recently stepped up its game and Firefox is now noticeably faster and uses less resources.
Finally, you may want to consider privacy as a factor. If you use Chrome, Google will know your browsing history; what you watch, which websites you visit, your web habits, and more will all be in the iron grip of Google.
Pros:
- Fast Performance
- Lots of Extensions and Customization
- Secure
Cons:
- Resource Heavy
- Privacy
Mozilla Firefox
I think that we have all tried Firefox at one time or another. You may have left it for Chrome in the past, however I suggest that you give it another go. Firefox just had its next major update a couple of months ago.
Firefox is now lightning fast. Faster than Chrome now. Furthermore, Firefox doesn't take up nearly as many resources as Chrome does.
With that being said, I honestly think that you should give it another go. It's improved a lot and I believe that it may have a real chance at overtaking Chrome. Lots of extensions, customization, security, and it is opensource.
However, I do have one worry. With Firefox adding ads in the form of "sponsored titles", I worry that soon Firefox will no longer be an advocate for privacy. They have been collecting more and more information. That really worries me.
We'll have to see what happens in the future and see if Firefox compromising its signature privacy.
Pros:
- Lightning Fast
- Easy on resources
- Lots of customizability
Cons:
- Privacy(?)
- Unsure future
Firefox. Simple as that.
It's fast, secure, and customizable: pretty much everything that you want in a web browser.
With that being said, I do have a few resentments:
- Privacy may no longer be relevant
- The future of Firefox and where it will lead is uncertain at this point.
However, I do believe that Firefox is better than Chrome. Chrome eats up more resources and it is now slower than Firefox Quantam.
What do you think? Do you agree that Firefox is the btetter browser, or do you believe that Chrome is still better. If you have any more points, please respond in the comments.
